Finding the great sites on the Web is easy. But it takes hard work and dedication to find the truly annoying and dazzlingly useless ones. Of course we didn’t shrink from the task. While locating the useful sites on the Web, we felt it only fair to call out the some of the most useless, too. We found no shortage of sites that are poorly designed or boring, but we list here some of the sites that go that extra mile – the dazzlingly ugly, the patently offensive and the mind-bog-glingly pointless.

dashboard.aim.com
I’ll admit that Dashboard already has two strikes against it just because it immediately gets right into my face every time AIM starts up, which means every time I fire up my PC. Once this lame site has your eyeballs, the site seems willing to do anything to keep them, if just for a few seconds, using eye-candy graphics and tabloidy headlines like “High School Love Triangle” and “My Nasty Texts Went to my Dad!” Strike Three.

havenworks.com

havenworks.com,the webs most useless site

If a web –design program got sick and threw up, it might look something like this site. My uncle from Santa Cruz says the first time he saw it he had an acid flashback.

juicycampus.com:
Juicy Campus provides a public place where college kids can engage in gossipy smear-fests against fellow students, teachers or anybody else, with complete anonymity. The tenor and intelligence level of the posts are, well, what you might expect from people who spend most of their time pulling bong hits, playing “Madden 2000” beer-sliding and vomiting up Night Train.

zombo.com:
A Web site? Concept art? A prank gone horribly wrong? I honestly don’t know. Open the page and you will hear:”This is Zombo.com. You can do anything at Zombo.com. The only limit is yourself. Anything can happen at Zombo.com.”Well, in fact, nothing happens at Zombo.com

brillpublications.com:
It’s virtual! It’s all like being in the world, except, uh, it’s on the Net! On the InterWeb! Walk through the front door of Brill Publications. See the secretary. Take the elevator. Talk to Bob on the fifth floor. Wait, why am I here?

cityoptix.com:
Sorry to pick on this local optometry franchise, but sites that immediately launch and force you to watch ridiculously long, loud and insane flash presentations – and there are many of them – drive me nuts. This one is one of the worst examples of site design I’ve seen.

digg.com
OK, Digg isn’t a horrible site, but it is one of the most depressing when you compare it to what it once was. Digg’s top stories (as voted on by Digg user) used to be interesting and tech-oriented. But since Digg has grown so immensely popular, the top 10 Diggs usually consist of “lowest common denominator” stories: funny photos and videos, for the most part. It’s a site cursed by its own popularity

weeklyworldnews.com
“The world’s only reliable news” site chock full of news and you can’t do without. A recent lead feature investigates weather James Carville or Britney Spears (bald) looks more like “Bat Boy.” Why isn’t CNN all over this?

meet-an-inmate.com:
Life not creepy enough for you? Now you can be friend and correspond with a lonely ex-meth-addict doing hard time in Leaven worth for aggravated assault.

bermuda-triangle.org:
Stunningly bad graphics and site design are mixed with really pointless content. It’s a double threat.

British rock band Coldplay on Tuesday denied virtuoso guitarist Joe Satriani’s accusation that it ripped off one of his instrumentals, saying any similarities were “entirely coincidental.Satriani filed a copyright infringement suit in Los Angeles on 4th December 2008 ,claiming Coldplay’s hit single “Viva La Vida” incorporates “substantial original portions” of his 2004 song “If I could Fly”.

The 52 year old guitarist is seeking a jury trial, damages and “ any and all profits” attributable to the alleged copyright infringement. But Coldplay, whose soaring atmospheric tunes have been unfavourably compared to those of Irish rock band U2, brushed off the allegations.
If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental and just as surprising to us as to him,” the band said in a posting on its website.

“Joe Satriani is a great musician but he did not write or have any influence on the song ‘Viva La Vida.’We respectfully ask him to accept our assurances of this and wish him well with all the future endeavors.”Satriani sued Coldpaly a day after the band received seven Grammy nominations, second only to rapper Lil Wayne. The nominations included the important record and song of the year categories for “Viva La Vida”, which comes from the band’s chart-topping album “ Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.”

The song is credited to the band’s four members – singer Chris Martin, bass player Guy Berryman, guitarist Johhny Buckland, and drummer Will Champion. The title was inspired by a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The Satriani track comes from his album “ Is There Love in Space?” Some enterprising fans have created “mash-ups” of the songs, overlaying Satriani’s guitar playing over the Coldplay tune to indicate that they seem to share similar chord and melodic structures.

Intellectual property attorney Oren J. Warshavsky, a New York-based partner with national law firm Baker Hosteler, said Satriani could prevail by proving “striking similarity” between the two compositions. The law would then assume the only explanation for the similarities must be copying rather than coincidence, he said.Additionally, Satriani could point out that his song is already published and widely disseminated, “which may be a more logical and compelling argument” then Coldplay’s allegation that this is merely the result of coincidence, he said.
A court also could find that Coldplay copied the song unconsciously, Warshavsky said.

The issue tripped up balladeer Michael Bolton, who lost a case against the Isely Brothers over their similarities named tunes “Love Is a Wonderful Thing.” George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” also was deemed to be an unconscious copy of the Chiffons’ “He’s So Fine.” But in a complicated legal twist, the former Beatle ultimately ended up as the owner of the Chiffons song.

“I don’t think about my looks much because I don’t plan to keep acting very long. I’m ready to do a few things now and fade away and get ready to be a grandma one day. So, I’m not so worried that I want to keep this pace up and try to be something and be a celebrity and be a successful actress forever,” Jolie said in an interview to BBC. However, the actress did not rule out returning to work for interesting projects though she informed she would be taking break between , reports THT.

I don’t think I’ll ever say I’m never ever going to work because maybe there’s that interesting project where I feel creative. I‘ll work for a few months in February. Loadshedding in Nepal is now extended to its extreme point.Nepal, which is said to be rich in natural resources and second richest country of water resources is facing 16 hours loadshedding a day. With a potentiality of producing 43000 MW, Nepal is just producing 560 Mw of hydroelectricity and of which only 555 MW is connected to National Grid. According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) , Nepal needs minimum of 800 MW of electricity to fulfill its demands.

Only 25 km away from capital city Kathmandu, there are villages and places where people have never seen or heard of electricity. After encountering 10 years of home war Nepal is still facing another war for next decade for its rapid development. Nepal Electricity Authority explains that there will be yet another increment in the time of loadshedding on mid-february and there are no any alternative for it.Loadshedding will be extended to 18 hours a day from mid- february.

The rapid economic growth as promised by different political parties seems to be limited within the speech of speaker. Because, when industrial sectors are facing 104 hours loadshedding a week , no steady production is possible. Also, think about normal people who have to join their hands and mouth for example, a carpenter or a cyber operator... Just imagine broadly, how a student can study... How is it possible to see developed Nepal??? Let's hope without electricity, New Nepal's dream project to touch sky will become sucessful soon....

Danfe, which is the first ultralight aircraft designed and built in Nepal, finally took off in Pokhara on 6th december. The test flight of Danfe was conducted at Pokhara Airport , three years after it was built by the student of Pulchowk Engineering Campus as part of their academic research .

Russian pilot Alexander Maximov , who received permission to fly Danfe only two days ago , flew the ultralight aircraft for over a minute. The aircraft flew 15-feet off the ground after cruising in the runway for for 95.32 metres at a speed of 73.2 kmph . The test flight was jointly conducted by Pulchowk Engineering Campus and Avia Club Nepal , Pokhara.

The test flight of Danfe coincided with International Civil Aviation Day. The flight was conducted at 4:30 pm after all scheduled flights at the Pokhara Airport had taken off. Danfe, built at a cost of one million rupees, can fly up to 6,000 ft at 100 kmph. It has a capacity of carrying 400 kg during the flight and can fly for two hours with 50 litres of aviation fuel.

The aircraft was designed and developed by Danfe Aircraft Fabrication Group, a group of seven engineering students led by Bikas Parajuli , three years ago. But Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) had refused to issue permit for the test flight. However, CAAN permitted test flight for Danfe in Mid-November.

A crowd of curious onlookers gathered at the Pokhara airport to witness the historic flight. Parajuli’s father, Shiva Prasad, who was on a wheelchair, mother Goma and other relatives were also in the crowd. Minister for Science and Technology Ganesh Shah and other high-ranking government officials of Kaski also witnessed the test flight.

Following the successful test flight, Minister Shah felicitated the young scientists and declared that government should bear the expenses incurred while designing and developing the aircraft.
He said the government would allocate a fund of Rs. 10 million for the research and development of science and technology.

“I was ecstatic when Danfe received the permit for the test flight,” an elated Parajuli said, adding his team will now focus on developing an improved version of the aircraft.”The aircraft was built following the Barnauli principle. It’s engine is built as per the Austrian technology,” Parajuliu added. Ramesh Ranabhat, a member of the team, said the aircraft would be upgraded after carrying out necessary research.

Two peers shaking hand-cartoon

Peer -to-Peer,It is a peculiar topic to talk about since in an ordinary network jargon. Generally it is meant for connecting computers across the network to work as one and sharing the required data by its user.

What the reason behind that today the users across the cyberspace are paying attention towards it? What is the software available and why are the authorities running a lot to make peer -to-peer a thing of the past? More questions arise as we move deep towards this topic. Client-server architecture is one of conventional way. In this type, the computers (servers) let its computers (clients) to access it and use its resources. All computers are linked to a network and at any point of time any computer can act as a server and another computer that uses its resources is the client.

Software such as Kazza or Napster on your computer contacts the internet when you install it. And you can download any kind of necessary stuff through the internet. Peer-to-peer file sharing is based on this type of protocol.

Napster was launched in may 1999 based on this protocol. This was first peer-to-peer software but this was not in the truest sense of the world because it still needed users to connect to the main server and once the client was identified, additional file transfer was passed on to the nodes. Kazaa and eDonkey were the advanced software later. And much other software came up with different idea and scheme and brought great achievement in the field of technology.

After around 1999 many changes have occurred in the world of peer-to-peer computer network. Napster has since closed down owing to a ruling by the American courts. Napster is still available, but in a form where it is no longer striking enough for P2P users.

In the recent years, newer peer-to-peer software like Bit Torrent has raised its head and has become the latest rage amongst the peer-to-peer users. eDonkey was the other software which was between the Napster and Bit Torrent. It was running smoothly and strongly until the appearance of Bit Torrent. eDonkey is still pretty much available, but its favorite rating amongst users has dropped to a very large extent.

We will talk about the mostly used peer-to-peer software in the world and how to handle them in the coming section but before that you should never forget that downloading the stuff from the internet like music or movies that you do not own and do not have a copyright is illegal.

So we don’t overlook such activities. The information provided here is only for the sake of informing you as a reader but not giving you the ideas to download such stuff illegally. So you should be careful of what is legal and illegal on the internet and don’t do the activities that could possibly land you in jail. So with that let’s move into the software mentioned above and understand how it works.
